What is UID marking/coding?
Unique Identification Marking (“UID”) is a permanent product marking process used to give identification tags and labels, name plates, equipment, machines, and other items their own unique ID numbers. It is simply a two dimensional data matrix code placed on the object – much like a standard bar-code. In cases involving federal contracting, it is a required process as part of the United States Department of Defense UID compliance procedures.
Properly marked products and items results in easy cataloguing, inventory control and traceability of parts and equipment. UID marking allows part and equipment manufacturers and suppliers from any field: automotive, industrial, medical, and aerospace, for example, the ability to trace their products from cradle to grave.
If your equipment, machines, or parts cannot be directly marked due to size or other reasons, Industrial Nameplate can create the necessary custom nameplates, control panels fronts & overlays, tags, labels, decals, or placards, and also provide the necessary UID compliant marking - all done at our local Appleton, WI facility. The custom UID tags can then be placed directly onto the equipment, parts or products wherever your company or organization is located: Fond du Lac, Neenah, Green Bay, Oshkosh, or anywhere in Wisconsin or the United States.
How do we provide the UID marking?
Using the TECHNOMark Multi4 Modular Marking System by DAPRA Marking Systems, Industrial Nameplate can mark or code the plates, placards, tags, labels, decals and panel fronts that we create for you. Rather than purchasing your ID plates, panel fronts, tags, placards, decals and labels from one source and then hiring a third-party to do the UID marking, we do it all in-house, at our Appleton facility. This results in faster turn-around times and lower costs for you.
